Visit the Library From Home!

Did you know that you can do a lot with a library card these days?  You can learn a foreign language, or several, you can read magazines and newspapers from all over the place, and you can access books online that you can read either on a special digital reader, or on your computer.  All  you have to do is visit the Pottstown Library’s website and then look for the e-resources.  There you’ll find homework help, foreign language lessons, and lots of reading material that you can check out from the comfort of your own home by simply typing in your library card number.

Here is the link…http://ppl.mclinc.org/

Have You Visited the Library Lately?

I love books!  I love holding them, and smelling them, and opening them.  To me, books are treasures.  Which is why it’s my pleasure to spend my time with as many books as I can.  But you know what?  The place I hang out with all the books is open to everyone else who lives in the local area.  And I’d love to see more visitors!

Just yesterday I was wandering through the lovely stacks of books and I came across books like Cat Wings by Ursula LeGuin, and a book about Holes, a book about Hugo Cabret and some marvelous inventions. I found some manga, and I paged through a few picture books.  I used my library card to take some of the books I found home with me.  The other day I brought home A Wrinkle In Time by Madeleine L’Engle, and yesterday I chose The Mixed-Up Files of Mrs. Basil E. Frankweiler, by E. L Konigsburg.  I also found a book by Jack Gantos called Dead End in Norvelt, and a book by John Grisham called Theodore Boone, the accused!

Books are amazing aren’t they?

Just remember, you are welcome to stop by and take out any of these books yourself.   Then we can talk about them!

Foggy Day Here in Town!

Who expected this kind of weather?  I was preparing for the cold weather, and suddenly it’s almost balmy.  Lol, okay, balmy isn’t the right word for the strange weather we’ve got but it’s not December weather is it?

Although, I guess you never can be sure what kind of weather December will bring.  I remember the year I was married  to my favorite fella, it was so pleasant outside that we didn’t need jackets to get our wedding photos.  And in case my favorite fella needs a hint on when the anniversary of that magical day was…it was December 15.  🙂

Back to today…I want everyone to be extra safe driving around town, the fog makes it precarious to drive.  Be safe!  And be prepared to freeze your butts off tomorrow!

Book Pig!

I find that when I like a book, I want to read more books like it, not exactly like it, but in a similar vein.  So when I found Book Pig, I was happy.  I can type in my favorite book, or author, and they’ll make selection based on my prior favorites.

It’s a great idea for young readers who don’t have any idea what they like to read.  There are staff picks, and choices related to age, or some about sports, or cooking.  Just go and check it out for yourself.  I think it’s a super idea for the holidays because it let’s you find a book for someone you know, all you have to do is plug in some books they’ve said they’ve enjoyed.  Voila’! Thanks to Book Pig, you are a great gift giver!
